About the Firm

After completing his law school education at the University of Cincinnati, and with an additional advanced law degree in Tax Law from Washington University, Jerry Casser was initially employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. as a Tax Law Specialist and then as an Estate Tax Attorney in the IRS’ National Office.

He then moved into private practice with a large Baltimore, MD tax law firm concentrating his activities in tax litigation for the firm’s major clients, Pimlico Race Course, Maryland Cup Corporation and Drug Fair Corporation, as well as developing his estate planning and estate administration skills.

Jerry later moved back home to New Jersey where he became the Tax Partner for a mid-sized Essex County law firm. Having developed considerable knowledge about the NJ bus transportation industry through his family’s business interests, Jerry began representing NJ’s private bus companies.

The present firm was founded in 1985 as a tax law firm, emphasizing estate and business tax planning, estate administration and tax litigation. The firm also continued to represent bus companies which became a significant portion of the firm’s practice.

The firm's practice is now somewhat varied, but has specialized skills in the fields of bus transportation and tax law. A majority of the firm's corporate clients are in the transportation business, operating buses, vans and limousines. The firm represents a substantial number of New Jersey bus companies ranging in size from 1 bus to 350 buses. Additionally, the firm has bus company clients in other states, including New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, and represents a statewide and regional trade association of bus operators.

In the course of representing our transportation clients, the firm offers corporate, tax, real estate and commercial law services, as required by our clients. The firm handles affirmative insurance claims for property damage caused by motor vehicle accidents where our clients self-insure all or substantially all of their collision claims. This includes investigation, appraisal and settlement, as well as litigation when deemed necessary.

The firm has a substantial number of individual clients for whom we provide tax and estate planning services, representation in real estate matters, and general legal services on most legal matters affecting the individual or his family.

The firm emphasizes the personal touch in dealing with its clients, offering the time, care and courtesy in handling clients' legal matters that is often lacking when dealing with larger firms.
