Our firm is highly specialized in the areas of State and
Federal regulation of buses, vans and limousines. We represent
a large number of transportation companies that are located
in New Jersey and New York, and many others that are located
throughout the United States. Although we are limited to representing
transportation companies in State specific or intrastate operations
and regulation in New Jersey and New York, we are able to
represent transportation companies anywhere in the United
States with regard to Federal Regulation.
We can obtain Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
(formerly ICC) and NJDOT and NYSDOT Certificates for charter,
regular route, contract and casino operations, obtain USDOT
Registrations, prepare and file tariffs and equipment leases,
and handle all of your regulatory matters, including protests
against applications for new service that would compete unfairly
with an existing operation.
Our firm has as much practical experience as legal experience
with regard to the operation of bus companies. Jerry Casser
was involved in the operation of a large bus company with
charter, transit and sightseeing operations through his family’s
business interests before he began practicing law and as a
result, has developed a substantial understanding of the day
to day operations of a bus company which he has put to effective
use in his law practice.
In the course of our law practice, we have represented large,
mid-size and small bus operators, from a company the size
of Coach USA with more than 9,000 buses and operations throughout
the country to small start up bus companies. We represent
charter and transit operators, commuter van operators, school
bus companies, limousine operators and private companies that
offer shuttle operations for their employees. We have obtained
approval for bus routes for our clients throughout New Jersey
and New York, and for interstate bus routes throughout the
United States. We have handled transportation issues for bus
companies in Maine, Massachusetts, Florida, Pennsylvania,
North Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and California.
Many of our out-of-state clients utilize our firm’s
legal abilities for matters that arise when their transportation
operations take them into New Jersey. The issues could involve
bus accidents (we investigate and assist in the recovery of
property damage), NJ tax issues, Atlantic City Casino matters,
Municipal Court appearances for traffic violations, and leases
for terminal and office locations in New Jersey, etc.
Our firm is a member of the United Motorcoach Association
and the American Bus Association as well as the Transportation
Lawyers Association and Association of Transportation Law
Professionals. Jerry Casser serves as Legal Counsel to the
Greater New Jersey Motorcoach Association, and he often speaks
on transportation matters before bus associations and other
transportation organizations.

Property
Damage Recovery
Our firm represents many commercial fleet owners (bus and
limousine companies, van operators, and trucking companies)
with respect to their property damage claims arising out of
motor vehicle accidents. We arrange for the appraisal of the
damage, negotiate with the insurance companies, litigate when
necessary, and assist in the documentation of losses from
"down time". We can also handle the negotiation
and defense of property damage claims that are submitted to
our “self-insured” clients, including the appraisal
and verification of the other party’s damages.

Planning/Elder Law
We prepare both simple and sophisticated estate plans, including
Wills, Trust Agreements, Living Wills, Health Care Directives
and Powers of Attorney, and advise our clients, especially
seniors, on ways to minimize death taxes and to preserve their
assets.

Administration
We handle all aspects of estate administration, including
probate, collection of assets, satisfying unpaid obligations,
valuation of assets, preparation and filing of Federal Estate
and NJ/NY Inheritance and Estate Tax Returns, preparation
of Court required accountings, representation before the Internal
Revenue Service and the Division of Taxation, and the distribution
of the estate.

Tax
Litigation
We prepare and handle Appeals at the I.R.S. or in the U.S. Tax
Court or U.S. Court of Federal Claims, as well as Refund Claims
and Offers in Compromise. On the State level, we can handle
a wide variety of State tax appeals and administrative hearings
involving sales tax, motor fuel tax, income tax and motor vehicle
taxes.

We can handle incorporations, dissolutions and mergers, formation
of LLC’s, prepare buy-sell agreements, employment agreements
for key employees, annual and special minutes and resolutions,
I.R.S. filings for "S" corporations and liquidating
corporations, as well as most contracts and business agreements.

Estate
We represent our clients with regard to buying and selling
a home, refinancing a mortgage, negotiating contracts for
the purchase, sale or lease of commercial properties, obtain
environmental approvals from State agencies, and process real
estate tax appeals.

a business jointly with a partner, clients who have not received
the quality of services or merchandise for which payment has
been made, and clients who have been defrauded in their business
